Villa shelves talk of transfer
12 Feb 2010 - 07:13:14
Valencia striker David Villa says that he will not consider a move away from the Mestalla until after the World Cup final in South Africa this summer.
The 28-year-old has long been linked with interest from a number of top clubs in England, as well as both Barcelona and Real Madrid, but Villa has so far remained loyal to Los Che.
Villa told the Spanish media: "I do not speak about my future until after the World Cup.
"This summer will be different in comparison with the past. I desire to play a World Cup with calm and concentration, without thinking about other things.
"My mind is on football and although the papers publish stories about my future, I do not give an opinion on the rumours."
Meanwhile, veteran midfielder Ruben Baraja has admitted that he may move on after losing a regular starting spot at Valencia.
The 34-year-old former Spain international told Marca: "I have a number of possibilities that I will look at. I am optimistic about the future.
"Three or four months is a long time, so let's see what happens at the end of the season.
"The coach (Unai Emery) decides who plays, so all I can do is give everything in training.
"If I am given a chance I have to be ready, so I have to let the coach know he can count on me."
