Villa hopeful over Barcelona

Valencia striker David Villa is hopeful of being fit to face Barcelona when La Liga resumes in two weeks' time.

The Spain striker is a major doubt for Los Che's October 18 meeting with the reigning champions and league leaders after being forced to withdraw from Vicente del Bosque's squad for their remaining World Cup qualifiers against Armenia and Bosnia with a hamstring problem.

"It is a long time. I hope I'm there against Barcelona," said the league's seven-goal leading scorer.

"I have to work every day to make it but I expect to recover."
