Valencia suffer Silva blow

Valencia winger David Silva has been ruled out until the new year with a knee ligament injury.

The Spain winger limped out of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Real Mallorca at the Mestalla and club doctor Jorge Candel has already warned head coach Unai Emery to expect a lengthy lay-off.

He explained: "It could have been worse with a ruptured ligament but the knee has endured well thanks to the preventative work done by the physios.

"If his knee had been in a worse condition then he could have been out for longer."

Silva will now miss next month's La Liga clash with Real Madrid as well as the upcoming must-win Europa League meeting with Genoa.
