Valencia have confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Santiago Canizares will be allowed to leave the club at the end of the current campaign.
The 38-year-old was one of three players banished from the first-team squad at the Mestalla by former coach Ronald Koeman, before being brought back into the fold after the Dutchman's sacking.
Canizares still had another year of his contract to run, but the former Spain international will be free to move on after the weekend.
A short statement on the club's official website read: "Valencia have reached an agreement with Santiago Canizares to terminate, from Monday May 19, his contract with the club, which ran until the end of next season.
The club's president, Agustin Morera, added: "I want to thank him for all the time he has spent at Valencia. He has been and was an icon of our club and we wish him all the luck in the world.
"We hope that on Sunday, if he plays, he can say goodbye to the great fans that he has because he deserves all the respect."
Canizares has spent a decade with Los Che, helping the club win two league titles and clinch a UEFA Cup final success in 2004, while they also reached the Champions League final in both 2000 and 2001.
