Racing Santander coach Marcelino Garcia Toral claims he has been approached by Valencia over the possibility of taking over at the Mestalla.
The 42-year-old is one of the hottest coaching properties in La Liga, having led Racing and previously Huelva to unexpected high finishes in recent seasons.
Valencia are on the lookout for a new coach after parting company with Ronald Koeman on Tuesday.
The Dutchman was fired after just six months in the hot-seat and with the club languishing on the fringes of the relegation places.
"There is contact from my representative with Valencia, as there was with others, but there is nothing more," claimed Marcelino.
"There is nothing signed. If there was something then I would say so.
"I have a very good relationship with the (Racing) directors and I would never harm their interests."
