Terrors take look at trialist

Published: 18 Mar 2009 - 11:15:00

Dundee United have invited former Valencia goalkeeper Alberto Marrama to the club for a trial period.Lukasz Zaluska has agreed a deal to join Celtic at the end of the season and United boss Craig Levein is keen to bring in a replacement.Marrama, a former team-mate of United's Spanish striker Francisco Sandaza, has been identified as a player with a lot of potential.Levein is looking forward to watching the 26-year-old in action but he is ineligible to play for the club's reserves.Levein will not therefore be able to cast his eye over Marrama in a game situation until he returns to Spanish Segunda Liga side Polideportivo Ejido."Alberto came here highly recommended and Fran knows him from their time together at Valencia," Levein said in the Daily Record."He has looked the part alongside our first-team players and has done well in small-sided games we've played."I'd like to see him in a game so it's unfortunate that our rules don't allow trialists to play in the reserves."
