Spain lose injured star Villa

Valencia striker David Villa has been ruled out of Spain's final two World Cup qualifiers with a leg muscle injury.

The in-form striker, who has scored seven goals in eight appearances for Los Che so far this season, picked up the injury during Sunday's 1-0 La Liga win over Racing Santander.

Villa is now likely to be sidelined for three weeks which rules him out Spain's meeting with Armenia on Saturday and Bosnia-Herzegovina the following Wednesday.

Vincente del Bosque's side have already qualified for the World Cup Finals as Group Five winners.

Villa is also a major doubt for Valencia's league meeting with champions Barcelona on October 18.
