Marchena plays down title talk

Captain Carlos Marchena has played down talk of Valencia winning the La Liga title this season.

The Spain defender was part of the club's last title success in 2004, but is refusing to entertain suggestions that their impressive start to the current campaign could lead to a repeat.

Los Che are currently four points adrift of league leaders Real Madrid.

"We must forget what is said about us," warned Marchena. "We must continue in the league and stay in the top group, the best group.

"We have to stay there and we'll see during the final stages of the competition what can happen."
