Los Che deny Mata to Barca talk

Valencia vice-president Javier Gomez has denied that Juan Mata is on the verge of signing for Barcelona.

It had been reported that the former Real Madrid youngster had agreed a five-year contract with the Catalan giants but Gomez insists no such deal is in place.

He told AS: "There is no agreement and we have not even spoken of Mata with another club.

"Any offer will be studied for a player but, for Mata, I insist, there is nothing."

The 22-year-old has scored 31 goals in 113 appearances for Los Che since making his debut for the club in September 2007.
