Forlan worry for Uruguay

Uruguay are boosted by the return of Luis Suarez for their World Cup third-place play-off with Germany in Port Elizabeth, but fellow striker Diego Forlan could miss out.

Suarez is available again after completing a one-match suspension, but Forlan is struggling with a thigh injury which forced him off in the latter stages of the semi-final defeat to Holland.

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller will be available for Germany after serving a ban of his own, but there are doubts over the fitness of Miroslav Klose, Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira.

Germany boss Joachim Low is keen for his side to finish the competition on a high. His players exceeded all expectations with comprehensive victories over England and Argentina in the knockout stages, but their wonderful run ended with a 1-0 defeat to Spain in the last four.

"I have got to try to wake up the team," said Low. "We have another game to play and we will approach the match seriously.

"We will come to terms with the disappointment and look forward. We have to look ahead and work hard and on Saturday provide a grand finale, if even a small finale."

Uruguay skipper Forlan has revealed he was not 100% fit for his side's clash with Holland, but the Atletico Madrid man is still hoping to play a part this weekend.

"I had some tiredness in my thigh when I started the game and it was difficult," he said.

"I was limping and I was trying to stay in the game but in the end I could not help anybody.

"I hope to be fit for Saturday, I want to play for that third place because even that would be great for everyone."
