USA captain Claudio Reyna has brought an end to his international career after his fourth World Cup finals ended in disappointment.

A 2-1 defeat to Ghana on Thursday ensured the USA finished bottom of Group E, having reached the quarter-finals in Korea and Japan four years ago.

"I'm probably done, that's it," said the Manchester City midfielder.

"I knew pretty much before (the tournament) that this would be the last World Cup for me.

"For me, the right time (to retire) is now. The next World Cup is far away. I just wanted to play this as the last World Cup."

The 32-year-old scored eight times in 112 international appearances and has captained the USA since 1999.

Reyna is likely to be followed in to international retirement by goalkeeper Kasey Keller and striker Brian McBride.
