US vice president to attend World Cup

US Vice President Joe Biden will head to Brazil in June for the upcoming World Cup, the White House announced Monday.

"While in Brazil, the Vice President will attend a game of the US national team," it said in a statement.

The exact date of Biden's trip was not released.

But the United States is in Group G for the big event. They play Ghana June 16 in Natal and then head to Manaus, in the heart of the Amazon region, to take on Portugal on June 22.

The third US match would be against Germany in Recife on June 26.

The World Cup runs from June 12 to July 13.
