Chris Woods to help coach US national football team

Former English national team goalkeeper Chris Woods has been hired to become the goalkeeper coach of the US national team.

For the past 13 years, Woods has been the goaltending coach for Everton of the English league. He has been given permission by manager David Moyes to take the American posting while continuing his coaching role with the Toffees.

Woods, 51, was recruited by new US head coach Jurgen Klinsmann who talked to Everton before bringing in Woods.

Everton's goalkeeper is Tim Howard who is also a member of the American team. The US will play Ecuador in a football friendly on Tuesday in New Jersey.
