Uganda's long finals wait goes on

Uganda's hopes of making the Africa Cup of Nations finals for the first time in over 30 years were shattered by a 0-0 draw against Kenya on Saturday.

Victory for the Cranes would have sent them to their first Nations Cup finals since 1978.

Thousands of Ugandans, who were unable to pay the entry fee into the stadium, packed clubs and restaurants to watch the game, but were seen leaving the venues crestfallen after the final whistle.

"It is a big disappointment to Uganda that we did not score," Rogers Mulindwa, the president of the Uganda Football Association (FUFA) told AFP.

"What has not been disappointing however is that the Cranes played relatively well and put pressure on the Harambee Stars."

Angola qualified as the winners of the group after beating Guinea Bissau 2-0 in Bissau.
