Udine hope for league boost

General director Pietro Leonardi has called on Udinese to continue their impressive European form in Serie A when they return to league action at the weekend.

The Bianconeri were 2-1 aggregate winners over holders Zenit St Petersburg in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup on Thursday and Leonardi has now set his sights on improving the club's current 12th place in the domestic table.

"We must start from here," he said. "We should not stop but continue to move forward and in the right way, as this is a historic moment.

"Now we must respond to this good form in the league and we have the opportunity to do so on Sunday when we travel to play Genoa."
