Udine certain of Inler stay

Udinese sporting director Pietro Leonardi has again rubbished rumours linking Swiss midfielder Gokhan Inler with a move to England to join Arsenal.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder was a summer target for the Gunners, although their boss Arsene Wenger says that his club's interest has now ended.

That stance has met with Leonardi's approval, as he is determined to keep Inler at the Friuli.

He commented: "Will Inler be leaving and Cristian Ledesma arriving from Lazio? No, Gokhan will be staying at Udinese.

"Inler is a crucial player for us and we have never had any intention of selling him."

Inler joined Udine in the summer of 2007 from FC Zurich and has established himself as a first-team regular, while he also featured for Switzerland at the European Championship finals last summer.
