Nasty injury for Ibertsberger

Hoffenhiem have revealed that Austria defender Andreas Ibertsberger sustained a serious facial injury in the closing stages of Sunday's victory against Freiburg.

The 27-year-old sustained the problem when he challenged for a header with Freiburg's Ivica Banovic in the last minute of the match.

He was operated on in Heidelberg on Monday with Dr Pieter Beks telling Hoffenheim's official website: "We put in some osteosynthetic material to stabilise the fractures and we'll be monitoring his progress very closely over the next few days and weeks.

"At the moment, it would be right to assume that Andi will not be available until after the winter break."
