Hoffenheim owner Dietmar Hopp has faith in under-fire coach Markus Gisdol

Hoffenheim owner Dietmar Hopp has given coach Markus Gisdol his backing - although he has criticised the decision to order the players in for an extra training session on Sunday.

After an encouraging eighth placed finish last season, narrowly missing out on a Europa League spot, Hoffenheim have failed to win any of their first five matches of the current Bundesliga campaign, collecting just one point.

But Hopp has full belief Gisdol can turn the situation around.

"We're not going to start any discussion about our coach," he told SWR television.

However, following a 3-1 loss to Mainz on Friday, Gisdol opted for a Sunday training session, something Hopp did not feel was necessary.

"The players are in a good enough physical condition to do without that," Hopp added. "The problem is in their heads."

It is not set to get any easier for Hoffenheim as they prepare for the visit of league leaders Borussia Dortmund this Wednesday before travelling to fellow strugglers Augsburg on Saturday.
