      Midfield role suits Yorke

      11 Jun 2006 - 13:49:46

Trinidad & Tobago captain Dwight Yorke says he is more than happy with his new role as a holding midfielder in the Soca Warriors line-up.

The 34-year-old former Manchester United ace made his name as a striker, but has been utilised in a far deeper role by national team coach Leo Beenhakker, with Yorke a major figure in the goalless draw against Sweden.

"I have been known throughout my career as a striker, but now I feel I can contribute to any team with a role in the middle of the park," Yorke said.

"I have learned the game - I have been around quite a long time - and managed to play alongside some great midfielders.

"Leo Beenhakker has given me that great confidence and belief in myself and my ability to go out and perform.

"He told me I have the brain to play the game that way and I am enjoying every moment."
