Strikers set for Rovers return

Tranmere strike-duo Ryan Lowe and Jake Cassidy are expected to overcome knocks to feature against Oldham.


The attacking pair sustained minor problems in the win over Coventry at the weekend, Lowe nursing a hip injury and Cassidy a blow to the chest, but neither ailment is expected to keep them out of the line-up.


Assistant manager John McMahon, taking care of first-team affairs following the suspension of Ronnie Moore, revealed Abdulai Baggie could miss two months after sustaining a knee injury with the reserves.


McMahon will be forced into changes after on-loan Everton pair Matthew Kennedy and Matthew Pennington returned to their parent club ahead of schedule earlier in the week.


Captain Korey Smith could return for Oldham at Prenton Park.


The central midfielder has returned to training following a knee injury that was initially feared to be more serious, and boss Lee Johnson is keeping his fingers crossed on Smith's availability this weekend.


Latics were due to get defender Genseric Kusunga back from suspension, but his thigh problem is expected to keep him out for several weeks.


Defender Carl Winchester and midfielder David Worrall could feature having not started the midweek loss to MK Dons because of fitness issues but Anton Rodgers is out for around six weeks with a knee problem.
