Shuker eyes early return

Tranmere Rovers winger Chris Shuker is delighted with the news that he should be fit to play again this season.

The 25-year-old has not played since Boxing Day and needed an operation to cure a knee injury, but the surgery revealed that the problem was not as serious as was first feared.

Shuker told the Daily Post: "When I woke up from the anaesthetic and was still coming round the surgeon told me the good news.

"I'm not sure how I reacted as I was still out of it. When the news sunk in, it was unbelievable. The way I feel now I'm made up."

Shuker hopes to be back in action in a matter of weeks, to build on his ten goals in 70 appearances to date for Rovers.
