Shuker: Curran can fill attack void
Published: 14 Jan 2009 - 14:41:16
Greenacre has suffered ligament damage to his foot and is set to be sidelined for between six to eight weeks. However the injury coincides with Curran's return to full training after spending the last four months on the sidelines with a back problem and Shuker is confident the 19-year-old can more than make up for the loss of Greenacre. "Losing Chris at this time is a blow. He's such a valuable player for the team with his ability to hold the ball up - and his goalscoring record is excellent," Shuker told the Liverpool Daily Post. "It is unfortunate for Chris but Craig Curran is coming back to fitness now. He's a similar type of player to Chris and we could do with having one of them ready to go into the side. "We are a small squad but we do have players who can adapt to playing more than one role for the team."
