Rovers striker takes the positives

Published: 08 May 2009 - 14:26:12

The 19-year-old spent most of the campaign battling back from stomach injuries but he overcame a succession of setbacks to return to first-team action over the final weeks of the League One campaign. He signed off with a goal in the last day 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe and told the Liverpool Daily Post: "Just to be playing again was good for me. "To get into the play-offs would have been a dream end to my season and I think we were desperately unlucky not to do it. "Everything that happened to me is part of learning process. It's so hard to keep your head when you are out of the game and watching from the sidelines. "I'm not the best spectator in the world, as the other lads will tell you. But I think this will make me a stronger person and hopefully a better player."
