Rovers set for Savage fitness boost

Published: 15 Feb 2010 - 16:09:15

The striker is set for another reserve-team run out this week as he continues his recovery from a problem picked up last April. "He thinks he's ready now but he still needs a few games," manager Les Parry told the club's official website. "Had we needed another striker on the bench on Saturday I wouldn't have thought twice about taking him, even though he's not ready. "This coming Saturday he'll be expecting to be involved...whether he is or not we'll have to wait and see. Everyone knows that if Bas was 100% fit he'd be in our side because he gives us something different to what we've got." Meanwhile, Lee Martin has taken over Parry's weekday role as the club's physiotherapist although the Rovers chief will keep that position on a matchday. Parry added: "Lee has got his own business so will do Monday to Friday for us. It will release me in the day time to get more involved."
