Rovers reject Davies bids

Tranmere Rovers have rejected a third bid from League One rivals Leeds United for midfielder Steve Davies.

The 19-year-old winger has been pursued by Leeds boss Dennis Wise since the opening day of the season when he caught the eye in a 2-1 defeat for Rovers at Prenton Park.

But Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore remains hopeful that Davies will remain at the Wirral club.

"Tranmere have rejected a third offer from Leeds United for Steven Davies," revealed a club statement.

"The club began negotiations with Steven over a new contract several months ago and it is hoped he will sign a new deal."
