Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore praised the professional performance which saw the Merseysiders move into the play-off places after a 2-0 win over Port Vale on Thursday.
Chris Greenacre's second-half penalty and a late strike from Ian Moore secured the points at Prenton Park.
"It was a horrible night and windy as hell but I didn't think we were ever in any danger," he told the club's official website.
"It was just a matter of upping the tempo which we did in the second half.
"I thought we had them on the rack and then we got the ball. I think overall we deserved to win the game.
"What they knew they would do in the first half was press, but you can't do it for 90 minutes.
"They ran their legs out in 45 minutes then we were nice and professional and picked them off."
