Rovers miss out on Beckford

Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore has failed in an audacious bid to bring Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford to Prenton Park on loan.

The 22-year-old almost moved to Rovers earlier in the season but opted to join Carlisle United on loan last month.

"I tried for Beckford but they want to have a little look at him so that one is on hold at the minute," admitted Moore.

"He was on the bench (for Leeds) at the weekend so I don't know what the situation will be."
