Tranmere Rovers have decided to farm out three reserve team players to non-league side so that they can gain some first-team experience.
Danny Holmes, who signed professional terms in July, has joined Southport on a one-month loan deal.
The 18-year-old has been named in Rovers' first-team squad on numerous occasions, but has yet to make a start although he has played all but one reserve game this season.
Second year youth scholars, defender Ryan Mitchell and stopper Shane McWeeney have signed for Warrington Town and Leigh RMI respectively on work experience.
Rovers manager Ronnie Moore told the club's official website: "All three lads have played a lot of reserve football and it's now vital to their progress that they experience the step up in quality and pace that first-team football will provide.
"Last season we loaned Steve Jennings and Mike Jones out and both returned to the club as better players. Hopefully, the same will happen with Danny, Ryan and Shane."
