Rovers keep loan star

Tranmere Rovers have extended the loan stay of John Thompson at Prenton Park by a further month.

The 25-year-old Nottingham Forest defender has impressed Rovers boss Ronnie Moore in his first four appearances for the Merseysiders.

"We were very keen to keep hold of John," Moore told the club's official website.

"He has done very well since he has been here and is a good footballing defender.

"He has settled in well at Prenton Park and we are delighted he agreed to stay with us for another month."
