Rovers eye Vaughan

Everton's teenage striker James Vaughan is a reported loan target of Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore.

The 18-year-old, whose joy at becoming the youngest player to score in the Premiership was short-lived by a year-long absence due to a knee injury, marked his return to fitness with a goal in Everton reserves' 2-1 derby win against Liverpool.

As a result, Moore, who is looking to bolster his forward line at Prenton Park, is hopeful of handing Vaughan the chance to rediscover his match sharpness with the League One outfit.

Toffees boss David Moyes rates Vaughan highly and does not want to rush him back too quickly, but could be tempted to send him to Rovers if he feels the player is ready for first-team football.
