Rovers exit leaves Parry `punch-drunk'

Tranmere manager Les Parry could not hide his disappointment after his side's stirring fightback ended in a 5-3 FA Cup defeat at Bournemouth.Josh McQuoid struck a hat-trick for the Cherries, who cruised into a 3-0 lead in this first-round tie, with further goals from Marc Pugh and Liam Feeney, while Rovers fought back to briefly level the game through Aaron Cresswell, Ian Goodison and Ian Thomas-Moore.Parry said: "I thought we did tremendously to get back into the game from 3-0 down, so to lose is obviously disappointing."The lads are disappointed, but after seven minutes we looked dead and buried, so I'm pleased with how we responded. But there was not much we could have done the way Bournemouth started."They scored goals which on any other day would probably not fly in. They were outstanding hits. We were punch-drunk after that, but we showed good character to get back into the game, but then we got hit by two killer blows which finished us off."We didn't get a chance to practice with the new ball and it moves around a lot, it's very light. Joe (Collister) had a go with one in the warm-up and it was a shock to see how much it moved."
