Rovers contest Roberts' dismissal

Tranmere Rovers have lodged an official appeal against defender Gareth Roberts' red card picked up during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Bradford City.

The 27-year-old full-back was dismissed after Ben Muirhead went down under a challenge as he looked to break clean through on goal.

However Rovers believe the referee sent the wrong player off as it was a double challenge from Danny Harrison and Ryan Taylor that halted Muirhead's progress and not Roberts.

The FA will establish a Disciplinary Commission to review the incident and are expected to announce their decision on February 10.
