Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore slammed his side after they lost 2-1 at Bournemouth to drop out of the League One play-off places.
The reverse left Rovers seventh in the table and Moore was an angry man after a below-par display at Dean Court.
He told the Daily Post: "To perform in the way we did during the first half was a big letdown. I don't know if some of them thought it would be easy.
"I don't know why it is we throw in a performance like that from time to time.
"The players knew what was at stake and they know that if you don't put the effort and commitment in at this level you'll come unstuck.
"We put ourselves in a great position and now we've lost a little bit of ground.
"But we got what we deserved and I'm bitterly disappointed for the supporters who travelled five or six hours to come and see that performance in the first half. It was totally unacceptable."
