Posh targeting Kay capture

Tranmere Rovers skipper Antony Kay is a transfer target for newly-promoted Peterborough United.

The Posh are seeking a number of new players for their assault on the Championship next season, but a deal with Kay has not yet been agreed.

Posh's director of football, Barry Fry, told the Evening Telegraph: "Kay was a player identified by Darren Ferguson as a possible signing, so I met with his agent.

"There would be no transfer fee involved, but we were miles apart as far as personal terms were concerned, so nothing is going on there at the moment."

Kay, 26, helped Rovers come within a whisker of a League One play-off place, having moved to Prenton Park from Barnsley in the summer of 2007.
