Parry vows to stick to his guns

The Wirral outfit are currently fighting relegation from League One but Parry says his players are relishing the prospect of facing Mick McCarthy's side in the FA Cup third round. Former club physiotherapist Parry was named as caretaker manager after John Barnes was axed in October, before recently being handed the reins until the end of the season. The popular Parry has presided over an impressive upturn in fortunes at Prenton Park and a run of just one defeat in eight matches has encouraged hopes of beating the drop. Looking ahead to the visit of Wolves, Parry said: "We won't be changing anything about the way we play. "We play to be tight, we play to get behind the ball and we play to break. "We play to squeeze teams and we play to let teams know they've been in a game. "There's no need to change the way we play." Parry admits his side have virtually no hope of lifting the FA Cup but he sees no reason why they cannot dump McCarthy's struggling Premier League side out of the competition. He added: "The lads are looking forward to it. It's a bit different and we can put aside our league position and enjoy it. "If we get a decent performance, even without a result, it could boost our confidence a bit. "We're not going to win the FA Cup, but the longer we're in it, it means we're winning games which can only be a good thing. "The first thing you look for is home advantage. They won't want to come here, they'd have preferred it to be at Molineux. "All I'm concerned about is that we give them a game. If, at the end of the day, they know they've been in a game I'll be happy. "It's going to be difficult for us - they're all Premier League players. They won't want to be beaten." Alan Mahon (ankle) and Bas Savage (Achilles) remain long-term absentees but Rovers have no other concerns. Tranmere have hired a set of covers to protect their pitch and ensure the match does not fall victim to the weather. The covers have had hot air, powered by gas cylinders, pumped underneath them and ground staff are working round the clock to keep the Prenton Park playable. Rovers chief executive Mick Horton said: "It is a big match for the club, and a large crowd is expected, so we are doing everything we can to beat the cold weather."
