Parry rues missed opportunities

Tranmere boss Les Parry said his side were a "little bit unfortunate" not to beat Accrington Stanley over 90 minutes, having seen his side exit the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on penalties.Enoch Showunmi missed the vital penalty for the League One side after the tie had finished 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes, with Showunmi cancelling out Ray Putterill's early strike.Rovers came close to settling the tie on several occasions but their ineptitude in front of goal left Parry bemoaning missed opportunities."A young side performed to a good level but we did not put away our chances", he said. "But no excuses for not going through."We have had a lot of injuries and the fans needs to show a bit of patience. The latest blow was the loss of our skipper John Welsh at half-time and he could be out for three to four weeks."It was ironic that Enoch Showunmi should miss from the spot in the penalty shootout but it was his goal that got us into that situation. I am not a fan of penalties but that is the way it is and one miss means we are out of the competition."
