Parry content to pick up a point

Published: 14 Feb 2010 - 15:10:28

The Shrimpers went ahead through Scott Vernon's penalty after Francis Laurent was brought down by Zoumana Bakayogo, but Ian Goodison netted a second-half equaliser at Roots Hall. Only a fine one-handed save from Southend keeper Steve Mildenhall stopped Rovers skipper Ian Thomas-Moore from netting a winner, although Parry admitted his side did not do enough to win the game. "You have to be pleased with a point when you come in 1-0 down," he said. "It was a clear penalty but we lost our shape and the lad was the wrong side of him for the penalty. "It was probably the poorest we have played away from home for a while and all in all it was a fair result. "It was a good save to deny Ian and it would have been an injustice if we had won."
