Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore has made Oldham Athletic midfielder Mark Allott his first signing of the summer.
The 31-year-old former Chesterfield star has penned a two-year contract with Rovers after turning down the offer of a new contract at Boundary Park.
Moore told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to have signed Mark. He's a quality midfielder who will add experience to our squad.
"He's a hard-working player who rarely gives the ball away. He's captained both Chesterfield and Oldham and will be a good influence on our younger players.
"This is just the first signing of the summer and we're working at bringing more talented players to Prenton Park ahead of 2009-10."
