Moore cools striker rumours

Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore says he is unlikely to move into the transfer market to find a replacement for the injured Chris Greenacre.

The 31-year-old is out for the foreseeable future with a foot injury, But Moore believes his current squad is strong enough to cope.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "It is always one of the hardest tasks in football to go and find a striker, especially one who is capable of scoring 20 goals a season.

"When you do find one who is half decent, the amount of money he is on is a big factor. We have the players to get us through this problem.

"Ian Moore has been doing a good job in a wide midfield role this season, but he came to the club as a striker and wants to play down the middle.

"Young Terry Gornell has come into the side on a number of occasions and did well when he played on loan for Accrington Stanley."
