Tranmere Rovers defender Ian Goodison has signed a two-year extension to his Prenton Park contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2008-09 campaign.

The 34-year-old former Jamaica international moved to Rovers in February 2004 and has made 128 appearances for the club.

"It's great for the club that Ian has signed his new contract," Rovers boss Ronnie Moore told Tranmere's official website.

"He's been our top player this season and is playing in the position he's most comfortable.

"He's the best centre-back in the division and it shows the club's ambition that we've kept hold of his services."
