Ellison exit edges closer

Tranmere Rovers midfielder Kevin Ellison is on the verge of agreeing to move to Chester City.

The two clubs have agreed a transfer fee for the 28-year-old who is set to discuss personal terms with the League Two outfit.

City chairman Stephen Vaughan told the Liverpool Daily Post: "The deal with Tranmere has been agreed, so we'll now move on to the next stage of the process, which is agreeing a financial package with Kevin and his agent."

Meanwhile veteran goalkeeper Gavin Ward, who was released by Rovers last month, is also about to agree a move to Chester on a player-coach basis.
