Barnes boosted by battling point

Published: 27 Sep 2009 - 16:10:54

Rovers' John Welsh netted from close range in the 35th minute at Prenton Park on Saturday after a fierce strike by Marlon Broomes was only parried by keeper Ben Williams. But Colchester earned a share of the spoils when they equalised two minutes later through John-Joe O'Toole. Barnes said: "I was pleased with the point after such a poor run. They were big and strong and physical and we stood up to the test. It was our best performance for some time. "It became a real battle in the second half and it would have been nice if we could have got all three points. "We haven't turned the corner yet but in terms of confidence it should give us a big boost."
