Tranmere V Colchester at Prenton Park : Match Preview

31 August 2012 15:51
Taylor doubt for Tranmere Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore could be without Ash Taylor when they entertain Colchester. The defender was withdrawn during Tuesday night's Capital One Cup tie against Aston Villa with a thigh injury. Michael Kay replaced him on the night and is expected to deputise again with Taylor a major doubt. Fellow defender Mark McChrystal featured for the reserves in midweek as he stepped up his recovery but is still a week away. Ian Goodison is still two to three weeks away following knee surgery while Paul Black is also a fortnight away from returning. Forward Abdulai Bell Baggie has impressed Moore recently and may be in line for a starting role. But Moore isn't expected to make too many changes as Rovers look to continue their unbeaten start to the league season. John-Joe O'Toole is set to provide Colchester boss John Ward with a fully-fit squad for the clash. The central midfielder was forced out of last weekend's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United shortly after half-time having picked up a knock. But O'Toole has shaken it off this week and is set to start at Prenton Park as the U's aim to topple a Tranmere side who have taken seven points from a possible nine so far this season. O'Toole's fitness boost means Ward takes a full-strength squad up north and he could be tempted to name an unchanged XI. Ward described last Saturday's point against promotion favourites Sheffield United as Colchester's best of the season so far having chalked up three successive draws.
