Holmes set for Rovers return

Danny Holmes will come back into the reckoning when Tranmere host Cheltenham in Sky Bet League Two.

A back injury kept the defender out of Tuesday's win over Wycombe, but he trained on Thursday and manager Rob Edwards confirmed his availability for Saturday.

Edwards tasted victory for the first time as a manager in midweek and confirmed none of his players had sustained knocks in the process, so he may be tempted to name the same XI.

Liam Ridehalgh is still out with an ankle injury while fellow defender Janoi Donacien is waiting to make his debut after arriving on loan from Aston Villa.

Cheltenham look set to involve new signing Jordan Wynter in their squad.

The Bristol City man will sign a one-month loan deal ahead of the weekend and having started for City last week he is match fit and available to feature at Prenton Park.

But this match comes too soon for fellow midfielder Asa Hall who has been using an oxygen tank this week to speed up his recovery from the calf injury which has sidelined him since the opening day.

After Cheltenham's 0-0 draw with Carlisle on Tuesday a number of squad players staked their claims in the development squad's 6-3 victory over Forest Green. Home-grown striker Bobbie Dale scored four times while Birmingham loanee Koby Arthur and Harry Williams also impressed.
