Shrews see off Tranmere

Shrewsbury claimed a morale-boosting 2-1 friendly triumph over League One Tranmere ahead of the start of the new season. An entertaining first half at the Greenhous Meadow appeared to be heading for a goalless conclusion until summer signing Matt Harrold fired home a rebound on the stroke of half-time after Rovers keeper Gunnar Nielsen parried Steve Leslie`s effort. Aaron Cresswell levelled for Tranmere with a great free-kick after the restart, but Shrews substitute Benjamin Van Den Broek drilled under Nielsen in the 72nd minute to secure victory for the hosts.
