The 30-year-old left Walsall at the end of last season and has joined Barnes' side on a free transfer.[LNB]"I'm pleased to have joined Tranmere," said Ricketts. "The lure of playing for John Barnes, who was an idol of mine, and the style of football he wants to play were big factors in me coming here."[LNB]Ricketts made his name at Bolton, scoring 46 goals in a three-year spell, during which time he won his only England cap against Holland.[LNB]He has since played for Middlesbrough, Leeds, Southend, Preston and Oldham and he goes into the squad for the League One game at home to Gillingham on Saturday.[LNB][LNB]
