Rovers boss delights at huge win

Mid-table Walsall slipped to their second successive defeat, and to add to their misery the winning goal was set up by their former winger Edrissa Sonko. The match seemed to be heading for a goalless draw when, having switched to the left flank, he picked the ball up and delivered a perfect 79th-minute cross to the far post where giant striker Bas Savage slammed a header into the net for his 12th goal of the season. "When other results have gone for you, you don't want to miss your own opportunity," Moore said. "We knew it was going to be a tight game and we got out of jail when Walsall hit the bar in the first half, but we had three or four good chances and I think we just nicked it." He added: "We never really gave them a sniff after they hit the bar. Overall it was a pleasing performance and we are in the spot where we want to be and we have to make sure we stay there."
