Parry targets midfielder

Tranmere manager Les Parry is hoping to sign a midfielder in the January transfer window. Parry, who has acquired the services of numerous youngsters on loan this season, is now targeting a permanent signing as back-up for midfield pair John Welsh and Joss Labadie and has money available following the sale of Paul McLaren in November. "I'm looking for a midfielder and there are a few loan players we could bring in," he told the Wirral News. "But we need someone permanent because if we bring in someone on loan, it is expected they play. At the moment John Welsh and Joss Labadie are two of our better players so it would be unfortunate to take them out of the team. "After the window closes we will still be able to sign anyone who has been released by a club this month because they would be unregistered. If they were willing to come to us until the end of the season, we could sign them."
