Tranmere boss Les Parry is keen to keep midfielder Andy Robinson and goalkeeper Tony Warner at Prenton Park next season.
The two short-term signings helped Rovers to League One safety with a series of impressive performances and are to be offered new contracts.
Parry said: "We would like to keep Tony and Andy with us and it is no secret that it is purely a financial arrangement.
"It is a question of what their expectations are, our expectations of what we can afford to pay them and the gap between the two.
"If the gap is too big we will part company the best of friends. They've done a great job for us this season."
