Pressure on Parry

Tranmere fans called for manager Les Parry to be sacked as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Oldham.

Veteran Latics striker Shefki Kuqi bagged the only goal with a second-half penalty and Parry's side have now won just one of their last 17 games.

Oldham made the brighter start and saw James Tarkowski go close from distance, but Tranmere carved out a chance for Ryan Brunt.

The visitors also made two headed openings late in the first half as John Welsh and James Wallace forced good saves from Oldham keeper Alex Cisak.

Oldham struck three minutes after the restart when Welsh brought down Robbie Simpson and Kuqi drove his spot-kick high to the left of Owain Fon Williams - the Finn's first goal in 14 games.

Simpson wasted a golden chance to double the lead six minutes later and Jean Yves Mvoto headed just wide from a set-piece. Oldham's Filipe Morais also hit the post with a deflected free-kick, but Tranmere could offer little in reply.
